i carry the sun in a golden cup...
Meet Carla Bruni. There is a promo music video here as well. Who is she? I believe she is a French/Italian ex-supermodel turned folk singer. Moreover, Nicolas Sarkozy, the illustriously hated French president, somehow is managing to date Bruni as well.
Bruni has led me to make more new year's resolutions. 1) To be the President of France 2) To speak French.
...and the moon in a silver bag.*
*Sure sounds cheesy, but you should watch who sings those lines. I think when you are that attractive, it doesn't matter what you say, people hang on every word you say. I guess it is all the ethical appeal. If you seem cool, people think that what you say is cool as well.

Thanks, Jon, for introducing me to Bruni. I think she's awesome. You probably know this by now, but the lyrics are cheesy only if you find the poetry of WB Yeats cheesy. All the tunes on the CD that this particular song comes from are musical renditions of some of the most famous British and American poets (Auden, Yeats, Dickinson, etc.) So, don't blame Bruni for the lyrics, just blame her for the tunes accompanying them. And credit her for the sultry beauty her "readings" of this poetry provide. Yeats would be proud, I think.
Hope you are well. Stay in touch, mi amigo! top
